Everyone has a story, mine began wondering the streets of London my senior year of college. I was graduating soon with a B.A. in English and I was still very unsure where my path was and what my purpose was.
Mostly I wandered around alone, I was studying Virgina Woolf, so I was keeping a journal for the class. Nothing is quite like walking the streets of Bloomsbury alone, sitting in a cafe alone and writing in my journal. I thought a lot about life and observed others a lot. Mostly I found myself in a cafe, an art museum, and the last night there I spent on the Themes River and it was something that made me realize I wanted to capture those moments; I wanted to hold pieces of time close to my heart and when I arrived back to the States I began painting, because nothing else was more intimate and nothing else felt right. I wanted to show someone's deepest emotions, I wanted to paint happiness, sorrow, and nostalgia into this world. I wanted to paint someone's soul, that spark of life or the flooding tears of sorrow one hides behind his or her smiling facade. I wanted to paint hope for the hopeful and the hopeless.
In my shop I have original paintings and drawings painted and drawn by me. I also have Fine Art Prints printed on high quality Fine Art paper with Canon 100 year Archival Inks. Some prints I offer sewn onto a larger piece of watercolor paper to give it a cute and handmade border. Since I like to recycle and try to be friendly to the environment, I use all of my print paper and watercolor paper scraps for my tags and jewelry inserts! I make and design all of my jewelry that I mostly use precious and semi precious gemstones, Czech glass, Solid Sterling Silver, Oxidized silver (that I oxidized, buff, and polish myself), and 14 K gold fill wire.
Designing my jewelry, I like to pick out unique and beautiful gemstones and use a wire wrapping method to construct each piece. I perform simple wire wrapping methods as well as more complex methods that I came up with myself by trial and error. I also experiment a lot with different techniques to create simple pieces and more extravagant pieces that a different and unique from other shops. I also try to make every piece affordable; one reason why I started making jewelry was because I could not afford to buy my own and since I am an artist, I love using all of the different colored gemstones and glass pieces and wire wrapping them is almost like making little sculptures!
So that pretty much wraps everything up about my shop, pretty much I do it all, I paint, draw, sew, photograph, edit the photographs, make the tags and inserts for the packaging, I ship every piece out, I write all of the listings and promote all of them, I design the jewelry and create it, oxidize, buff, and polish the silver.
